Who Should Take This Journey?
Together with approved affiliate ministries, The Sentinel Group will assist qualified communities to prepare the way for transforming revival. These communities will be chosen on the basis of their willingness to commit themselves to the process and conditions outlined in this document.
These conditions are presented not as a legalistic exercise but out of an abiding desire to see each community achieve the goal they seek. Having spent more than a decade examining hundreds of transformation success stories, we are convinced that proper preparation – which begins with counting the cost of such a venture – is essential. While it is sometimes true that a journey is its own reward, in the matter of transforming revival success is all about reaching our intended destination.
There are two lists in this section. The first of these, located below, presents considerations that will help believers decide whether or not to participate in the Journey to Transformation process. This is the place to start.
The second list, located on the following page, is also important. It elucidates the requirements for attending a mentoring intensive near the end of the JTT journey.
Please take time to review both of these lists prayerfully.
Process Considerations
This journey will be an intense, all-consuming experience that will encroach upon every arena of life (including family time & sleep) – rationalized avoidance however will kill the process.
- This is a twelve-month process – those who question whether they can make such a long-term commitment probably shouldn’t.
- Since private sin has corporate consequences it cannot be allowed to remain private.
- Routinized religion can be an impediment to revival – process participants should be prepared to suspend (temporarily) certain programs.
- Transformation exposure tours require a set-aside of 10-14 days and costs up to $3,000.
- The transformation school will likely require a minimum commitment of 100 hours (50 hours of content and 50 hours of discussion). The cost of the DVD series and workbook set is $350 per student ($7 per hour).
- At least two community leaders will need to attend a week of certification training in order to teach the curriculum locally.
- The mentoring Intensive at the end of the Journey to Transformation process lasts for a full week and also requires a significant financial outlay (see below).
- Revival preparations and contemporary entertainment don’t mix well – participants should do their utmost to suppress distractions.
- Transforming revival is ushered in by prayer – process participants should be prepared to spend a substantial amount of time on their knees.
Intensive Participation Criteria
To participate in the Torchlight Intensive, candidates must first be selected to a community delegation. Individual participation is prohibited.
- Individual candidates must demonstrate an appetite for transforming revival that is both informed and without reservation.
- Delegations should be comprised of representatives from the major societal spheres and reflect the full expression of the local body of Christ.
- No delegation will be considered eligible to attend an Intensive unless the community’s sending churches are walking in demonstrable unity.
- Delegations must commit to joint prayer and fasting for a period of at least twelve weeks leading up to the Intensive.
- Candidates must devote themselves to a pre-Intensive study regimen that requires ingesting the full 50-hour transformation curriculum.
- Candidates must commit to attend the entire Intensive (lasting a full seven days) without interruption.
- Candidates agree to participate in a digital fast (meaning no cell phones, email or television) for the duration of the Intensive.
- Candidates must pay a $1,200 registration fee in addition to direct program expenses (such as food, accommodation and transport).
- After the Intensive, participants agree to teach and apply the principles they have learned within their own communities.
If your community is located outside the United States, this price may be lower. Check with The Sentinel Group to learn more.
Intensives are limited to 75 participants, but not all are required to come from the same community. Where process communities are in close proximity and communication, combined groups are permitted.
These spheres include Arts & Entertainment, Business, Politics, Family, Media, Education, and the Church. This is a desirable goal but need not be observed legalistically. Right-hearted people (even children) ought to be given precedence over professional representation.
This prayer and fasting need not be continuous, but it should be regular.
This fee (which may be lower in certain areas outside the United States) covers preparation and presentation costs that include, but are not limited to, faculty time and expenses, facility rental, and special media.
